How it works
The Gear display is sent the Gear data from the Openshifter wirelessly via SimRlink , if you have a H pattern Logitech shifter connected to Openshifter then the Gear information is directly read from the Gear you are in.
Using H pattern in sequential mode
Alot of games will allow you to set up gear and down gear as gear 3 and gear 4 this is how you can use your logitech shifter as a sequential , Our gear display will increase the gear or decrease gear shown to how you go up and down gears in game , the gear display does not use game data
Different modes
Logitech H pattern mode
When you switch on the gear display if you have the Logitech shifter connected to the Openshifter , and go into gear 1 , 2 , 5 , 6 the gear display will be in H pattern mode showing the gear that you are in on your logitech shifter
Logitech H pattern sequential mode
When you switch on the gear display, if you have the Logitech shifter connected to the Openshifter , and go into gear 3 , 4 the gear display will be in sequential mode , and will increase/decrease gears only when you go into Gear 3 or 4
DIY , SR Shifter ,sequential mode
This mode will show if you don't have a logitech shifter connected to Openshifter and have either 2 switches connected to the audio socket on Openshifter or have Our SR Shifter connected in same socket
This mode works exactly the same as Logitech H pattern sequential mode where
where changing the gear up or down will increase or decrease the gear shown.
Gear starts and Gear limit modes
We have different modes for different gear starts and gear ends so for example a 5 gear car can be limited in display so even if you keep shifting up and in game it limits your car at 5 gears the display will do the same
we also have start games in Car X and GT7 the cars autostart in gear 3 so our display starts in gear 3 when in that mode
we added these modes as the display is not taking game data only up and down gear changes so it does not know what is happening in game and will need the user to set the mode for the game (press of a button cycle through modes by pressing button again ) saves after 5 seconds so next time you switch display on it starts in that mode
There is also modes that will not show R and N as we noticed when testing that gear like dirt 2.0 and WRC will not allow you to shift into N or R which car is moving unless very slowly as we can not know that car is not moving we have added this mode to not show R and N if you down shift to many times by mistake
although if you do use these gears the display will not know so when you up shift from say R the gear display may show gear 2 if the start gear is 1 , you can press the same button you use for mode to set the start gear
